Backyard Hackers Summer Lesson Policies
Updated 4/24
Upon sign-up folks either leave a note at checkout, if they need a specific time frame or leave it blank, and let us schedule them where it works in our schedule (these are our favorite folks :) ) Through 12 years, we've been able to accommodate everyone who's signed up this way.
The plan is to do weekly practices on the day and time that you're scheduled, starting the week after school is out in Appleton. We'll do that for 5 weeks. We will not have lessons on July 3rd or 4th this year. Anyone scheduled on the 3rd or 4th will get scheduled as a make-up lesson at some point in the summer.
Practices are being held at my house. I have a full-sized cage which will be used for most lessons. We are located in the Colony Oaks Park area of Appleton.
Things come up and vacations get booked quickly. We will not have 100% attendance this summer. If you let me or Courtney know 24 hours before the lesson is to take place, we will work with you to reschedule. If we get less than 24 hours of notice, we will not reschedule and that practice will simply be missed. If we have to cancel lessons for something, we'll let you know as soon as possible and get make up lessons in place. We're pretty flexible, but have only committed to the times that were offered. (Be prepared to hear "no", but we want to say "yes"). Our first attempt to reschedule will always be the Friday of that week.
***NEW THIS SUMMER***
We will reschedule up to 2 lessons per athlete for Courtney and 3 for John. Any reschedule request past those, will have to be missed.
The cage is outside and we'll be at the mercy of the weather at times this year, just because it's raining or 120 degrees, it does not mean that practices will automatically be cancelled. As soon as we know that lessons are cancelled for weather we'll alert you by email, text or call. Please don't call or text. . .we're probably working with someone, or trying to figure out what we'll do. We'll let you know as soon as we can, I promise. Any other weather-related cancellations will be made up. Our first attempt will be on Friday of that week.
Parents, you're welcome to attend any practices and observe. Coach will always give you time at the end to ask questions. Please don't interject yourself into the practice though.
Please be prompt (or a little early). If you're late, you will not get a 30 minute practice. It'll be however long you've left us for that block of time. We will not inconvenience other folks because of your tardiness.
We do have a bathroom that you'll be able to use, or the neighbors have some tall bushes.
High school kids, please bring your own helmets for possible live situations. Younger kids shouldn't need helmets, but are welcome to wear them if that's what parents want. Tennis shoes are most appropriate in the cage.
Covid concerns: If you are more comfortable, coaches will mask up . . .just ask. We are both vaccinated.
